About this site

This site is here to promote my work, and to provide a convenient peg on which to hang odds and ends of information that won’t fit elsewhere. Being self-employed, I find it hard to avoid mixing the professional and the personal.

I have had a “me-too” presence on the web since my first homepage at Arnes.si in 1998, handcoded in Notepad. It was supplemented by some pages at the University of Oslo while I was there (2002–2007). Since 2007 I have been at this address, with a very lengthy “closed for repairs” hiatus since the mid-2010s.

The first incarnation of christianmoe.com was based on Drupal, a very powerful platform totally surplus to my requirements. I have simplified and gone back to my roots with a mostly static site generated from Emacs Orgmode enhanced with a little extra Elisp and some simple DHTML.

I sometimes have things to say to the world, but it usually takes me so long to figure them out that, when I get around to saying them, the world has moved on. So this time around, I’ve called my blog Owlet of Minerva, which is also fine because it will often be about the intersections of science, politics and religion.

I also keep some longer and more systematic notes on such issues.
