Islam in Southeast Europe Forum
The Islam in Southeast Europe Forum website is up and running.
This is the website of the recently established Islam in Southeast Europe Network, where I am on the steering board.
The Network aims “to bring together local and international researchers and consultants to discuss and exchange information, views, opinions and analysis of the issues primarily related to the policy relevant aspects of Islam and Muslim presence in SEE.” A main aim is to provide a public service, inter alia through the Forum, as “a reliable and balanced source of information and expert analysis”. I think it is much needed.
The network already brings together a very interesting and diverse group of people working on this topic, and I really look forward to the exchanges of ideas the network will facilitate.
So far, the website contains a handful of articles, including two longer papers, Ahmet Alibašić’s presentation on Traditional and Reformist Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Juan Carlos Antunez’ study on Wahhabism in BiH. It is heavily focused on Bosnia so far, but I hope soon to see contributions covering the wider region.
